ENG Camera Operator

DESCRIPTION:

CBS News seeks an ENG Camera Operator for its's Washington DC bureau. This person will work in a live, pre-recorded, and breaking news environment.

Responsibilities:
• Shoot breaking news, day of air, long-form features, and investigative assignments, all with the highest ethical, aesthetic and technical standards using the latest technology.
• Candidates must demonstrate an ability to direct lighting, set overall visual look, related technical specifications for projects and sound as a one-person crew or as part of a team.
• Ensure that all pictures and sound are of highest quality and properly recorded.
• Work closely with producers by providing support logistics and shot requirements
• Operate ENG vehicles.
• Maintain all gear including crew vehicles, working with appropriate departments to keep all gear up to date and in working order.
• Ability to travel with short notice including internationally as needed for production.
• Able to trouble-shoot quickly and effectively in a variety of circumstances (including adverse weather and/or hostile environments). Work under tight deadline.

QUALIFICATIONS:

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Degree in broadcast journalism/production preferred.
• Minimum 5 years experience working as an ENG photographer in a large market preferred.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
• In depth knowledge of existing and evolving news gathering technologies.
• Take ownership of situations and lead issues to resolution.
• Experience in logistics, special event planning and execution.
• In depth understanding of news gathering technologies: Multi-camera interviews and remotes.
• Must be available to work a variety of schedules including weekends to meet production and broadcast deadlines.
• Proficient with streaming technologies (LiveU.)
• A link to examples of recent work preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift 45 plus lbs. of equipment.

The chosen candidate must be able to work in a team-oriented environment, communicate effectively with various levels of the organization and be flexible enough to adjust and operate within the fast paced environment of a news operation. Ability to multitask and demonstrate sound judgement when working independently will be essential.
