Join us for an opportunity to experience the art of animation and be a part of Walt Disney Animation Studios. The Talent Development Trainee Program is available for emerging artists for up to a 12 month paid position at Walt Disney Animation Studios. Join us for an immersive Trainee experience, that offers a chance to understand the depth of your skills, refine and strengthen key areas, apply them in our real world environment, and work under the guidance of a Disney Mentor.

The Look Development Trainee Program begins February 2021. Please note, the safety and well-being of our teams is very important to us. We will be determining whether this program will be in-person at our Burbank, CA studio or virtual in the coming months based on local state and county ordinance. The deadline for applications is October 25, 2020, 11:59 PM PST.

The Look Development Trainee
Look Development Trainees work with the Look Development Artists to create the materials, textures, and grooms that define the look of 3D characters and environments. Look development artists should have a great eye and exceptional critical thinking skills with regards to image deconstruction.

As a Trainee, the first four months of your program are structured to introduce you to the art and technical aspects of our Look Development process, our studio culture, and our production environment. These initial months will showcase the skills and philosophies of our Look Development department while providing you nurturing mentorship with a Disney artist. A four month review provides you with real-time feedback and determines future opportunities that could bring your skills into real-time production environments.

We are looking for original thinkers with a passion and dedication toward pushing their craft and skill sets. Our studio culture thrives on bringing in unique voices and perspectives with a passion for their craft.

Reels/portfolios/demonstrated skills should include:
• Experience manipulating materials to achieve a specific Art Direction
• Ability to interpret and execute key aesthetic elements from visual development artwork into an asset
• Demonstrated ability to physically paint
• Strong problem solving skills
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment
• Proficiency with Maya and Photoshop, or equivalent 3D and 2D tools
• Knowledge of UNIX/Linux environment a plus
• Understanding of shaders and GI Rendering a plus

Am I Eligible To Apply? We're looking for:
• 18 years or older
• Emerging artists with less than 5 years experience in the Animation Industry
• Recent graduates - Degree or equivalent experience
