Job Description

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios Inc. ("MGM") is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Paralegal who will work closely with the lead attorney and senior IP professional(s) in trademark prosecution, opposition, cancellation and copyright matters.

Responsibilities:
• Evidence Management
− Photograph, upload, organize and oversee all evidence to support management and protection of MGM's IP Portfolio
• Title Clearance
− Perform and review trademark searches, including preliminary trademark screenings
− Order and assist in analysis of search reports
• Trademark Prosecution, Opposition & Enforcement
− Manage key aspects of U.S. and international trademark prosecution and maintenance matters
− Prepare/assist in preparation of trademark applications and other trademark prosecution documents for filing at appropriate trademark offices, including gathering all necessary information regarding same
− Communicate with and draft correspondence to outside counsel and foreign associates
− Maintain, update and verify data in trademark docketing system and assist with document management and file maintenance
− Monitor and maintain applications through issuance and renewal
− Monitor external usage of trademarks through trademark watch notices, logo and content watch notices and reports, brand monitoring searches and services from third party vendors
− Protect trademark, domain name and social media portfolio through assistance in identification of inappropriate use, preparation of cease and desist letters, take down notices, assertions of infringement, and related correspondence
− Assist in domestic and foreign opposition, cancellation, litigation and enforcement
• Copyright Administration (Protection & Enforcement)
− Demonstrate knowledge of US Copyright Law
− Demonstrate knowledge of USCO Database and Eco (Electronic Copyright Registration System)
− Assist with filing US Copyright Applications
• General
− Conduct research on U.S. and international trademark and copyright law as requested
− Conduct factual research into third party activity which may infringe company's IP rights
− Use Lexis/Nexis, Clarivate, SAEGIS and various rights databases to conduct research
− Manage special projects as assigned
− Perform other related duties as needed or assigned

Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree
• 3+ years of experience handling trademark oppositions, cancellations, and litigation support
• Familiarity with domestic and foreign trademark practice and procedures
• Experience with SAEGIS or similar trademark databases
• Familiarity with US Copyright Compendium and Office Practices
• Familiarity with US Copyright Law
• Experience and trustworthiness handling confidential and sensitive material
• Knowledge of ANAQUA trademark docketing and management system a plus
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills with a high degree of attention to detail
• Ability to work under tight deadlines and prioritize responsibilities
• Self-motivated, exercise sound judgment, and demonstrate effective planning, problem-solving and analytical skills
• Ability to follow up, follow through, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
