Job Description

This position works on projects through all phases of original programming including pitch, script development, pilot production to series production. Throughout this process, the individual serves as the department's contact for programming and other internal departments to help insure maximum coordination and impact for the network. The person in this position will also act as a liaison between Showtime and the creative community, initiating and growing relationships that continue to elevate the profile of the network and its programming.

Principal responsibilities:

Main contact (or ''second chair'') for the life of a project at Showtime, continually balancing the interests of the network with the interest of the project's creative team to build something that adds to the prestige of both. During the development phase this may mean giving story and script notes and conveying them efficiently to producers.
• If the script is ordered into pilot production: involvement in selecting a director, casting, and choosing other key creative personnel. Then attending the table read, watch and comment on dailies, visit the set, and share notes on the cuts.
• If the pilot becomese a series: working with producers to assemble a writing staff, production schedule and assign directors. Give notes on season arcs, episodic stories, scripts and cuts. Coordinating with creative services, PR, marketing and talent relations about the most effective way to platform it.

In addition, as point person on a project, this individual is responsible for communicating progress to senior management, finding creative solutions for any number of situations that may arise and facilitating cooperation between internal departments.

Attend plays Meet with producers, agents, writers, directors and other professionals in the film/television community to find new material to develop at Showtime and to stay aware of trends and innovations in the marketplace.

Read submitted scripts, treatments, etc... in order to help assess their viability as Showtime projects.

, readings, screenings, film festivals, etc. to continue to stay knowledgeable on emerging and established talent.

Miscellaneous responsibilities include research projects, contributing to internal tracking and development reports and representing programming in special interdepartmental projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years' of experience within the entertainment industry is required. Particularly in the areas of development or production.
• In depth knowledge of the entertainment business.
• Knowledge of story frameworks, script noting and ability to work with film.
• Strong writing skills including a demonstrated ability to write coverage.
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure.
• Ability to communicate effectively with people both internally and within the community.
