Job Description
The Director, Studio Safety will lead and continue building a high impact team of health & safety professionals that supports all Production verticals including Original Series, Original Series Film and International Originals. As part of the Safety and Security Leadership team, you will help continue to strategically develop and deploy a comprehensive production safety program focused on protecting the worldwide Netflix production workforce.

You will provide thoughtful leadership and will be able to leverage the expertise of a world-class team of interdepartmental safety and security professionals across Production and Corporate Safety & Security, Risk & Intelligence, and Events / EP. The goal is to continue developing and scaling a world-class production safety program that delivers effective and innovative safety solutions to protect the people who create Netflix's industry-leading content.

The Director, Studio Safety, will be based in Hollywood, California and report to Netflix's Director, Safety and Security.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of production safety professionals that supports all Production verticals (tactical) and a team of Studio Health and Safety program developers that provide support to our Studio locations as well as our Production Safety team.
• Partner with our Physical Production, HR, Legal, Studio Operations and Risk Management teams
• Provide innovative and effective program leadership that drives the development of health & safety consulting services to Netflix's global productions and Studio facilities worldwide.
• Evaluate Production Safety programs in an effort to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
• Provide strategic direction to a team of safety professionals.
• Lead efforts to establish compliance, training, and internal marketing programs designed to increase visibility and ensure safety.
• Mitigate safety concerns by working directly with Production Executives, Producers, Unit Production Managers, and other production staff
• Work directly with production teams in the planning and execution phase of all filming: assessing safety needs, securing appropriate vendors, and traveling to remote locations as required
• Oversee and direct the development and distribution of production health & safety, environmental and other safety guidelines
• Establish process for standardizing injury and illness recordkeeping and reporting, incident investigations and corrective actions implementation
• Leverage data and create/manage metrics to demonstrate program effectiveness and progress
• Respond to, and investigate emergencies, incidents, and accidents
• Develop and maintain effective working relationships with industry safety organizations, employee representatives and governmental regulatory agencies as appropriate

Qualifications
• Strong safety program development experience with a large international company that has experienced rapid growth.
• Demonstrated strategic vision with successful execution and ability to confidently communicate vision to senior level executives.
• Master's Degree in Health & Safety, Environmental Studies, Physical Sciences, related major or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience managing complex projects across multiple international locations
• Understanding of motion picture and television production process including organizational structure, terminology, equipment, construction methods, stunt, and special effects techniques, etc. is a plus
• Experience partnering with risk managers, loss control executives and insurance underwriters to resolve loss prevention issues
• Ability to quickly recognize and resolve challenging safety issues that arise during the course of normal production activities
• Comfortable leading large cross functional initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional management from Legal, HR, Risk Management and IT
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Chartered IOSH Membership or other related certification a plus
