Job Description

Technical Artist - SEED

SEED is an R&D organization within Electronic Arts, whose purpose is to explore new technologies and the creative opportunities that they enable for our future games. We explore, build, and help define the future of interactive entertainment.

We exist at EA to foster innovation for our games and our players. We do this through research, prototypes, exploration, and never-ending curiosity. We also exist to educate, share, and be great partners. We collaborate with game teams and industry partners and publish and present our research within our industry and to the public. We pursue long term applied research, yet stay relevant to the present by delivering artifacts along the way to game teams and technology groups inside EA.

As a Technical Artist at SEED, you will work with rendering researchers to help build technology to create game worlds of the future. As an artist with a technical background in game engine pipelines, you will explore the boundaries of real-time visuals, and develop new approaches that accelerate the creation of massive and detailed next-generation game worlds at scale, quality, and ease. You will bring forward-looking ideas to the table, and how we solve some of the hardest challenges in video game content creation. With your knowledge of the latest advances and best practices for art creation, you will be an essential contributor in the realization of our projects!

You are well-acquainted with current content creation challenges, and as a creative and inventive person, you can think about new and different ways of creating game art. You are well-versed with tools such as Maya or Blender, and you might have a special interest in procedural workflow tools like Houdini. You might also know a thing or two about scripting and programming, and you might be familiar with languages such as Python or C++. Inspired by the fusion of technology and art, you want to create beautiful and massive worlds without requiring thousands of artists, and therefore might wonder how Machine Learning and alternative content representations can power new content creation pipelines for next-generation games.

We are looking for individuals with the capability and interest to build new visual experiences, with a desire to explore and master new areas of real-time rendering and content creation. We want passionate, creative, and communicative people. We also expect our employees to be involved and engaged, and in return we provide great autonomy and true influence.

Does this make you curious? Well, if you want to be part of creating visuals of the future and work with passionate team members, then SEED is the team for you.
