Job Description

User Experience (UX) is made up of multi-disciplinary teams of Designers, Researchers, Writers, Content Strategists, Program Managers, and Engineers who care about the people who use our products. We play an integral part in gathering insights about product user needs, attitudes, emotions, and behaviors to inspire and inform design. We collaborate closely with each other, engineering, and product management to create products that deliver value for our users and Google's businesses.

As a Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher, you will work on multiple programs and/or a complex program/emerging area. You will accomplish this by setting and communicating product direction and priorities that have a significant impact across teams, products, and businesses, as well as developing solutions for research and/or user problems.

In this role, you will advocate for and practice inclusive research and design practices and promote the creation of inclusive products. You will work with adoption of research-based, inclusive, user-centered thinking, and decision-making across multiple products and stakeholders, and influence them to gain support for a strategic vision for Google and Google's users.

Resonsibilities:
• Drive complex research to identify user needs and business opportunities that guide product and business strategy and vision.
• Lead ideas and user-centric thinking to improve products and services through research-driven insights and recommendations.
• Drive project priorities in alignment with larger project goals, and coordinate allocation of resources within the project.
• Lead research programs by planning, designing, and engaging in strategic and tactical research that informs the product, service, and business, while increasing knowledge about the user's needs, pain points, values, opportunities, and motivations.
• Own and/or execute analyzes for complex research projects or programs. Lead vision and strategy discussions through research, and create and communicate research findings, insights, and recommendations.

Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science, Learning Sciences, Statistics, Psychology, related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of relevant work experience (e.g., experience with UX research in an applied research setting).

Preferred qualifications:
• Master's or PhD degree in Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Statistics, or a related field.
• 8 years relevant work experience (e.g., knowledge of a wide range of UX research methods and techniques) such as lab-based usability studies, field research, usability inspections, creation of user profiles or personas, participatory design, survey research, experiment design, and statistical analysis.
• 5 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience interacting with senior leadership.
• Experience managing projects.
