Job Description
Google's projects, like our users, span the globe and require managers to keep the big picture in focus while being able to dive into the unique engineering challenges we face daily. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you lead complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects using your engineering expertise. You plan requirements with internal customers and usher projects through the entire project lifecycle. This includes managing project schedules, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to project stakeholders. You're equally at home explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical trade-offs in product development with engineers.
Using your extensive technical and leadership expertise, you manage various Engineering-specific programs and teams.
The YouTube Business Technology team focuses on the ever-evolving business and operations side of YouTube, providing tools and systems that enable thousands of Googlers to support the growth of creators, artists, and YouTube as a whole.
As a Leadership Technical Program Manager in our YouTube Business Technology team, you will develop and standardize processes across teams operating on different tech stacks for different user bases in order to create economies of scale. You will work directly with our development pillar heads and directors. You will create a program management center of excellence within YouTube Operations by standing up a team that produces clear data on performance-to-milestones, velocity, and investment growth needs.
Resonsibilities:
• Partner with developers, product leads, and strategy leads as you build out the brand enablement team while designing and implementing hybrid program management methodologies to meet the needs of a growing organization.
• Hire and manage a team of Technical Program Managers to execute on the roll-out and day-to-day operations, while also acting as a key representative to leadership in communicating our goals, accomplishments, and needs.
• Delegate, launch, and iterate core program management within the team (e.g., agile, user testing, intake, prio, launch readiness, measurement, goal setting, and headcount planning).
• Work with internal clients and upstream data and infrastructure providers to form robust relationships that make our planning processes well-informed and adaptable to change.
• Create high quality dashboards and data sets on performance that enable teams to invest with confidence and minimal overhead.
Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in program management.
• Experience in building dashboards and reports.
• Experience in Agile Software Development.
Preferred qualifications:
• 5 years of experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.
• 3 years of experience in people management.
• Experience working with a wide range of internal stakeholders, from senior executives to software engineers.
• Experience using agile methodologies, waterfall, and tooling (e.g., Planr, Jira, etc.).
• Advanced analytical and data management skills (e.g., SQL).
