WXIN/WTTV the #1 newsroom in Indianapolis has an immediate opening for an Assignment Editor/Digital Content Producer which is a major player in our award-winning News Department.
• Skills/Duties to include:

Monitor scanners and field assignment desk phone calls
• Receive and investigate news tips; Gather and prepare story items for the newscast
• Assist/sometimes create the digital reporting on respective web pages and social media
• Support newscast Producers and assist in writing stories
• Manage logistics and assign field crews to cover stories
• Demonstrate sense of urgency with breaking news
• Create, write, and manage online content for station websites and social media platforms
• Maintain awareness of local, national, and international news and tease effectively
• Edit and post video content on multiple platforms
• Utilize AP style, as well as best web-production practices and story packaging
• Assist anchors, reporters and broadcast partners with website needs
• Perform other duties as assigned
• Requirements

Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent experience required
• 2 years' experience in print writing
• Previous experience in a newsroom, especially on a digital platform or in local television news is preferred
• Excellent writing and copy-editing skills
• Strong understanding and familiarity of social media platforms
• Basic understanding of video editing/production
• Ability to work in a rapid, fast-paced environment
• Must be able to work a flexible to work any shift including holidays
