An excellent opportunity to join our team, we are looking for a dynamic newsroom leader to take our team to the next level.
As News Director you will lead and manage news coverage for WVVA as well as our digital and social efforts.

Duties will include (but not be limited to) the following:
* Establish and maintain our market-leading standards while working closely with other department managers to achieve overall performance goals.
* Working closely with the Social Media Manager and Content Manager you will ensure that our customers are being served on all platforms.
* This newsroom manager directs the development of our content, weighs the full editorial possibility of every story, and makes immediate decisions on how it will be disseminated on the appropriate platforms. WVVA delivers news as it happens on air, online and on the go all the time.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• At least 5 years of newsroom experience and a bachelor's degree in Journalism preferred.
• Strong management skills.
• Ability to multi-task in high stress situations.
• Creativity and passion for news.
• Leading, teaching, and coaching team members.
• Knowledge and understanding in using various digital and social media platforms.
• Strong working knowledge of community issues and needs as well as sound journalistic principles.
• Must have the ability to make fast, accurate journalistic and logistical judgments.
