Job Description
WVNY/WFFF-TV in beautiful Burlington, Vermont is looking for our next dynamic NEWS PRODUCER who wants to tell compelling stories, dominate breaking news and severe weather coverage, and promote the values of journalism on air, online and to social media.We are looking for someone who has strong news judgment, is passionate about journalism, and the desire to work within an award-winning team. This producer will be a major part of the station's online success by posting stories and other content on Mychamplainvalley.com.
The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability and willingness to produce newscasts with creativity and flair; this includes writing clear, concise copy on deadline, working under pressure, and showcasing great video and emotional sound, and easy to understand graphics. College degree required.
Duties:
• Produces newscasts for broadcast across all platforms
• Writes and orders news stories
• Approves scripts
• Balances news and feature content to create compelling broadcasts
• Edits video
• Writes stories for the website and other eMedia platforms
• Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites
• Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements and Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Minimum two years' experience in news operations (Depending on market size
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Flexibility to work any shift
