Job Summary/Description:

WTVY News 4 is looking for the next News Director who will own our brand mission of serving as ''Your Hometown News Leader.'' You will consistently find yourself mentoring and developing the next generation of broadcast journalists, as well as enriching the coverage of local communities through a wide network of key relationships on behalf of the market's top-rated news organization. Stepping into this high-functioning newsroom, you will be expected to quickly adopt and begin elevating a standard of quality that is relied upon loyally throughout the Wiregrass region.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

The successful candidate will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following:
- Audience development through the creation of trustworthy news, weather and community content across multiple broadcast and digital platforms
- Principled editorial decision-making and leadership that sets the tone for our newsroom
- Quality control of content across all platforms, including regular reviews with key stakeholders to maintain and elevate standards
- Effective communication of news plans and goals across all departments to ensure successful collaboration
- Effective and urgent execution of our Breaking News & Severe Weather coverage plans
- Providing regular, productive individual feedback that helps grow anchors, MMJs, producers and others within the newsroom
- Providing the voice of News expertise in our regular station leadership meetings, as well as contributing to the successful execution of the station's overall strategic plan
- Promoting best practices in local journalism by tracking trends in Gray company training, industry successes and failures, and constant pursuit of improvement
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality, as necessary, with utmost professionalism in all communications

Qualifications/Requirements:
- At least 3 years of newsroom experience and a BA in Journalism preferred
- Strong management, communication and people skills required to supervise and interact daily with staff and the community
- Proven leadership ability
- Creativity and passion for local journalism
- Knowledge and understanding in using various digital and social platforms
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to calmly multitask in stressful situations
- Previous news management experience is a plus
