Job Description
The WTRF Producer / Multimedia Journalist Reporter produces daily newscast items, on-camera reports, including shooting and editing, writes, decides the order in which stories will be told, writes teases, times news programs, edits video, posts video to the website.
• Produce accurate, complete, and compelling news copy on deadline for all platforms
• Ensure that all news content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality.
• Write and deliver news stories in a clear and concise manner.
• Assist in writing, copy editing, researching, and coordinating programming and other content.
• Respond to breaking and other urgent newsroom situations as required.
• Oversee writing, production, and timing of broadcast or on-line publication.
• Manage show development, contribute to the editorial process, and make solid decisions in breaking news situations.
• Write, produce, and edit material that appeals to target audiences.
• Research production topics using the internet, video archives, and other information sources.
• Contribute regularly to digital platforms.
• Develop ideas for news, feature and enterprise pieces, as well as investigative stories.
• Present compelling, clear, creative and accurate live shots.
• Interact with viewers and users on social media sites.
• Shoot and edit video
Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required
• Minimum two years' experience in news reporting (Depending on market size)
• Superior on-air presence
• Proficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipment
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Flexibility to work any shift
