Job Description
WROC-News 8, a CBS Affiliate, seeks a Chief Editor to oversee all video for the newscasts ensuring all video has been edited according to the scripts and submitted on time for airing. The Chief Editor must be able to train and motivate a group of young editors and command the respect of the seasoned photographers and editors. This person is the glue between the editors and producers and can make the difference between a newscast looking great and a newscast that fails.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Ensures all video is edited to scripts and submitted on time so that the newscasts are free of errors
• Works closely with the producers to enhance the newscasts with video and natural sound
• Trains and critiques Editors/Production Assistants
• Maintains an accurate archive system
• Works with engineering to ensure equipment is functioning as expected and troubleshoots when problems arise.
• Consults with photographers on the composition and framing of camera shots, applying the technical aspects of light, lenses and camera settings to achieve the effects sought by management.
• Oversees quality control of edited material for broadcast.
• Uploads video to web and other content sharing sites.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's Degree in television production preferred but not required, or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Must have experience working in a television broadcasting environment.
• Proficiency with editing and web software.
• Experience as a news videographer strongly preferred.
• Must be able to work beyond scheduled hours during breaking news and special projects
• Must be a fast, accurate editor, working under pressure and delivering under tight deadline demands
