Job Description
WROC-TV8, a CBS Network Affiliate, seeks a Broadcast Maintenance Engineer. We need a jack of all trades to assist our Engineering department with the day-to-day operation and maintenance of our TV station and Transmitter facilities. This position reports to the Chief Engineer and is responsible for installing, removing, and maintaining all systems as needed including HVAC, electrical, broadcast, microwave, network, IT, and news gathering equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Help maintain all broadcast technology and equipment for the station and transmitter sites.
• Work closely with Chief Engineer to implement new technologies and technical infrastructure for the station.
• Manage and coordinate production setups, A/V routing and patching, audio equipment and editing systems.
• Help install, repair, and maintain all station equipment.
• Assist in the maintenance of station and transmitter HVAC systems.
• Repair and maintain station building and grounds, including offices, studios, and technical areas.
• Maintain and install studio lighting, fixtures, furniture, and equipment.
• Help maintain station's fleet of vehicles, including live microwave & satellite trucks, news cars etc.
• Collaborate with station vendors/contractors on building maintenance projects and equipment upgrades/repairs.
• Determine usage and help to order station building supplies.
• Work closely with department managers on technical logistics for outdoor and/or off site station events.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements & Skills:
• 2-year degree in a technical profession desired.
• 2 years' experience in a broadcast facility desired.
• Knowledge of common business software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook a plus
• Organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability meet deadlines, prioritize, and multitask.
• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Fluency in English.
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Willingness to learn new systems and technologies and work extended hours occasionally if needed.
