WONDERY (An Amazon company) is one of the largest podcast publishers in the US with the most local language versions of its shows. Launched in 2016, and known for its immersive podcasts, Wondery became the fastest network to join the Top 10 ranker by Podtrac in the US, propelled by hit shows such as Dr. Death, Dirty John, Even the Rich, and Business Wars. Wondery launched the global hit Dr. Death in seven languages worldwide, reaching #1 in five countries and recently hit #1 with their first UK show, British Scandal. Many Wondery series are being adapted for scripted television, including Dr Death, The Shrink Next Door, and WeCrashed.
We are seeking a Head of Commercial to lead the growth of our Podcast business across Latin America. You must be a podcast fanatic with an outstanding record of growing digital media businesses across multiple geographies within Latin America particularly Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Colombia. You will be responsible for building country-level podcast commercial teams across the region including business development, marketing and advertising teams. You will work closely with in-market and global content teams to launch a growing slate of local originals and partner shows as well as global teams on tentpole releases. You will report to Wondery's Head of International to design and execute growth strategies by territory, building best-in-class marketing, operations, sponsorship and advertising teams to drive listener engagement and maximize revenue opportunities, coordinating with in-market Amazon Music teams.
The ideal candidate will bring energy and passion to everything they do. You will have at least 10 years of international experience in a fast paced, high growth media environment with demonstrated user and revenue growth. You are a collaborative leader and will have a proven ability to build bridges and connect resources and talent across cultural and political boundaries, ideally with experience managing in a matrixed organization. You must possess skills in strategic planning, budget management, business development, and prior P&L operating experience. And finally, you are an inspiring leader with a track record of building and managing diverse, high performing teams.
Key job responsibilities
• Lead the South American business with P+L responsibility
• Regularly liaise and collaborate with internal colleagues to build the business across diverse geographic regions
• Drive audience growth and retention across Wondery and Amazon Originals and third party shows
• Oversee the marketing, distribution and monetization of O&O and partner podcasts to achieve listener and financial goals
• Drive growth of the Wondery brand in the region as a premium publisher and connected to the individual shows
• Maximize full value from investments in content IP in the audio segment and adjacent media space.
• Develop and manage advertising commercial partnerships both in-territory and across the region.
• Expand network of third party shows
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 10+ years of overall work experience in leadership roles with demonstrated success as evidenced by audience growth, advertising revenue growth, market segment share growth
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required
• Analytical and strategic skills with ability to manage to and deliver on defined KPI's
• Understanding of podcast marketplace
• English and Spanish understanding
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to communicate openly and proactively in a multi-lingual environment
• Experience driving Direct-to-Consumer subscription businesses including acquisition and retention strategies
• Additional languages highly valued but not required
