Forecaster/Meteorologist

WNEP-TV, TEGNA's ABC affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pa. has an immediate opening for a dynamic and engaging Forecaster/Meteorologist to work on a part-time, temporary basis. You can join the select few to continue the tradition of broadcasting out of our beautiful backyard weather set.

This position is responsible for preparing and delivering accurate weather reports on-air and online in a conversational manner. This person understands the weather conversation our audience is having with friends and how to engage and relate to them, even on bright sunny days.

Responsibilities:
• Present the weather in our outdoor backyard/weather set
• Provide accurate and compelling weather forecasts on multiple platforms
• Produce clean, creative, and informative graphics to tell the weather story
• Prepare and deliver severe weather updates, interrupting regular programming as necessary
• Update website and engage with viewers on social media platforms daily
• Work in the field, on special projects and other duties as assigned
• Make public appearances and attend community events

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• Four-year college degree in Journalism/Meteorology with demonstrated weather experience or equivalent experience as a television weather on-air talent
• Experience utilizing the WSI's Max Storm/Social Media program in forecasts
• Fill in for Meteorologists on various days and shifts to cover vacation and time off.
• Provide forecast information to the station's website, social media, and news ticker as required
• Sound writing and storytelling skills are a must

Travel: Rarely: less than 10%

Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment

Physical Demands Set: Light work: Involves sitting most of the time, walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
