Job Description

WNEP / Newswatch 16, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre/Hazleton's ABC affiliate, has an immediate opening for a Digital Content Producer. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, loves news and working on the cutting edge of digital and social media. This position will largely be responsible for creating informative, innovative, and engaging content for our desktop, mobile, social and streaming platforms.

Successful Digital Content Producers at WNEP are leaders in the newsroom responsible for the audience experience on digital, social media and streaming platforms. They should take initiative in creating content around key digital drivers, like breaking news, weather, sports, and politics, that engages the audience.

Qualified candidates should be strong writers, first, with the ability to write quickly but accurately. They should also have solid news judgment and experience producing and copy-editing content for digital platforms. A working knowledge of online CMS, video-editing and photo-editing software is preferred. This digital producer will also manage content produced by others, including copy editing, for our various digital platforms.

Responsibilities:
• Post stories to all online Digital-Mobile-Social platforms
• Report news as it happens online (strong breaking news skills) and generate web traffic through timely, engaging social media posts
• Research for facts and credibility
• Use consumer analytics, i.e., Google Data Studio, Google Trends and Taboola Newsroom, in determining content creation
• Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or digital executive producers
• Help create synergy between our content both on-air and online

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• Experience working as a digital producer or journalist preferred
• Solid news judgment
• Be well-versed in SEO best-practices
• Experience in online CMS, photo and video-editing systems preferred
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Ability to write in Associated Press style
• Ability to prioritize and manage requests from various sources with an ability to work well with varied personalities within deadlines
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Experience with Google Analytics a plus
• Must be a self-starter, who can prioritize what must be done under tight deadlines
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends

Travel: Rarely: less than 10%

Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment

Physical Demands Set: Sedentary work: Involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
