Job Description
WMUR-TV has an immediate opening for a chief photographer. This person supervises and manages a team of photographers and editors and is the liaison between the news and engineering departments. Our chief photographer is responsible for hiring, training and developing/mentoring staff as well as scheduling. He or she is also responsible for managing our fleet of news vehicles and equipment maintenance. Our chief collaborates daily with news managers on news coverage and breaking news. He or she also collaborates with our management team on digital platform initiatives as well as station projects. This person could also shoot and/or edit video on a daily basis.

The successful candidate will have strong communication and leadership skills and be calm under pressure. He or she will be creative, motivated and highly organized. Although not expected to operate microwave or satellite trucks, you must have an understanding of how they work. You also must know how to operate a TVU or similar live pack and be able to manage them for our team. Experience with drone photography is a plus. You must also be flexible with scheduling, including some nights, weekends and holidays. Must be available to be on-call and must be able to work on deadline in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibilities:
• Hires, trains, manages, mentors and evaluates a team of photographers and editors
• Provides daily constructive feedback on shooting and editing
• Manages a fleet of vehicles and equipment
• Shoots video
• Edits on Adobe Premiere
• Collaborates with news management team
• Gathers video and still pictures for digital platforms
• Works with reporters and producers to ensure the best content and facts are gathered and communicated to our team
• Coordinates and oversees incoming video elements from field crews
• Manages our video archives
• Manage video licensing
• In-person attendance is required

Experience Requirements:
• At least five years of broadcast news photography and non-linear editing required
• Previous management experience preferred

Qualifications Requirements:
• Excellent managerial skills
• Can easily carry up to 50 pounds of equipment
• Technical knowledge of ENG/SNG trucks and TVU or similar live pack
• Can work in all weather conditions
• Must have a valid driver's license and a near-perfect driving record
• Exceptional ability to operate digital editing tools
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Can organize and prioritize
• Must be able to work independently and meet deadlines

Education:
• College degree in broadcast journalism or related field preferred
