General Assignment Reporter

Job Description

WLUK-TV has an opening for a General Assignment Reporter who will cover news events for distribution on multiple platforms both Broadcast and Digital. We produce seven hours of news each week day, which allows reporters the opportunity to go beyond the headlines and dig deeper into issues. This position offers a variety of reporting assignments from politics to feature stories. No day is the same. Reporters are part of a supportive and creative newsroom environment. This is a great opportunity to grow as a writer, editor and creative journalist.

No day will look the same as a Reporter, however, the main responsibilities of the role will include:
• Provide news content on-air and online
• Engage with local community members
• Review material for fairness, accuracy, and balance
• Work closely with all members of the news team

• Proven knowledge and experience working with current media creation tools
• Excel in storytelling across multiple platforms
• Strong writing and copy-editing skills are a must
• Must be able to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines
