Job Description
WLTX-TV in Columbia, SC, the state's capital, home to the state legislature and the South Carolina Gamecocks, has an excellent opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and energetic Evening Executive Producer.

This person must have strong editorial news judgment, plus have an eye for creativity and experience to help make sound editorial decisions for the newsroom and can execute the vision for our newscasts with urgency and impact.

This leader will embrace our high-quality standard of news reporting, storytelling and investigative excellence while boldly advancing the WLTX brand across broadcast and social platforms.

As the Nightside Executive Producer, you will work closely with the News Director and other newsroom leaders to continue to grow the station's ratings and create content with an audience-focused, inclusive journalism strategy.

We are looking for a leader who knows how to motivate a fully-engaged team, manage and inspire all employees who contribute to the overall success of the station.
Our ideal candidate has three to five years of journalism experience; preferably as a news producer, but former reporters and anchors will also be considered.

Responsibilities:
• Coordinates and oversees newsgathering efforts for our evening newscast
• Prioritize the content that matters to our communities and know how to bring timely coverage and conversation to our shows every day
• Assigns daily stories and projects to reporters, anchors, photographers, and digital team and monitors the progress of story development throughout the overnight and morning
• Focuses on accuracy and strong writing in our scripts, copy editing and closely working with reporters and producers to create accurate, informative and engaging content
• Aggressively covers breaking news for all platforms
• Work on special projects and oversee the creation of unique content for all platforms
• Champions story planning and works with entire team to produce engaging storytelling through strong writing, visuals, use of sound, graphics, and other production techniques
• Boldly participates in the newsroom editorial meetings to make editorial decisions
• Works with editorial team on developing best practices and innovating our newscasts
• Collaborates with the Assignment Desk on potential story ideas and planning for both on-air and digital coverage

Job Requirements:

Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or equivalent experience
• Must have a strong working knowledge of all aspects of newscast production, AP-style broadcast writing and journalistic standards
• At least three to five years of experience producing and showcasing content in a newsroom environment
• Excellent copyediting skills
• A desire and demonstrated ability to lead other journalists
• Strong organizational, motivational and communication skills
• Ability to work and be on call nights and weekends
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and champion change
• Travel: Rarely: less than 10%
• Work Environment Set: Office: normally performed in a typical interior/office environment
• Physical Demands Set: Sedentary work: Involves sitting most of the time; walking, lifting, bending, standing, etc.
