WKRG-TV News 5 / wkrg.com in Mobile, AL/Pensacola FL is looking for a full time Digital Content Producer. The successful candidate will author and curate accurate, high-performing stories and posts (including elements of text / photos / video / graphics / etc.), gather information for news reports, and craft engaging website pages & other digital products. The DCP will show initiative in utilizing metrics and real-time data to maximize hourly audience and build long-term brand loyalty.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Create and edit website stories with excellent grammar, punctuation, and AP Style that is packaged and promoted in a way to generate engagement and repeat site visitation
• Research, gather information from disparate sources, and cold-call & interview people to develop news stories on deadline
• Monitor all forms of media (print, TV, digital, blogs, and social), be quick to report breaking news stories, and hunt for exclusive and/or trending content that will grow engagement and drive loyal, local traffic
• Write powerful headlines that grow audience and engagement
• Prioritize packaging content that grows page views per visitor and time on site using headline testing, metric tools, and observed patterns to guide decision making
• Evaluate website traffic trends to make decisions on both daily content needs and longer-term content curation that will grow local audience
• Promote and distribute news content on social media
• Monitor social media accounts and respond to viewer questions and comments
• Work collaboratively with fellow content team members on breaking news, severe weather, and enterprise content
• Originate and create opportunities to market our digital and social content on-air, as well as our on-air content online and on social media
• Build positive working relationships with station teammates, company colleagues, sources, and the public

Experience, Skills, Education:
• Experience in journalism, digital content, and social media preferred
• Ninja-level mastery of AP style
• Strong journalistic storytelling skills a big plus
• Write accurately, clearly, and cleverly to motivate readers to click
• Deadline conscious with strong time management skills
• Organized, technical problem solver
• Ease with/ability to learn new technology independently and quickly
• Knowledge of SEO best practices
• Experienced in use of Adobe Suite (in particular, Photoshop and Premiere Pro)
• WordPress experience a plus
• HTML CSS experience a plus
• Proficient in MS Office
• Confident capability with Google Analytics
• Chartbeat experience a plus
• Strong communicator
• Enjoys working in teams and has excellent interpersonal skills
• Regularly and dependably meets KPIs
• Schedule flexibility

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

The Digital Content Producer must be able to sit, reach, conduct telephone conversations, use electronic mail, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, regularly work indoors, and occasionally work outdoors in non-environmentally controlled conditions.
