Our team produces nearly 30 hours of local news each week. We strive to bring our viewers the best content on all platforms. Job Summary/Description:

WHSV-TV is searching for our next News Anchor/Executive Producer who will take our highly-rated 5 p.m./6 p.m. newscasts to the next level while overseeing day-to-day newsroom operations. This is not an entry level position.

You need to be dedicated to serving up fresh content, passionate about storytelling, mentoring a growing news team, be commanding during breaking news all while fostering a positive newsroom environment. This anchor spot is a high-profile position – not only within the walls of our station but our community, too. We need somebody who can be a mentor to our news staff and maintain a positive image in the community by being engaging in local events and organizations. You will oversee the reporters and producers working for our 5 p.m./6 p.m. newscasts and must be ready to write and produce as needed. You will be expected to turn a franchise segment, daily, as part of our initiative to spotlight the community. The ideal candidate will have at least two years' experience producing and anchoring and/or a background in reporting. Proficiency with ENPS is a plus.

Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not be limited to) the following:
• Anchor our 5 p.m./6 p.m. newscasts.
• Write for the newscasts and occasionally produce as needed.
• Find creative ways to showcase news stories.
• Oversee day-to-day news content and operations while leading and mentoring the news team.
• Coordinate special coverage as needed (Ex: Elections, community events, special reports, long-form reports).
• Consistently update, monitor assignment calendar and maintain staff schedules.
• Host a daily live-to-tape interview as part of our station's initiative to spotlight the community through engaging conversation.
• Publish content on our digital platforms (Website, news app, social media)
• Evaluate news assignments, leads and tips in order to develop story ideas.
• Covers breaking news or special reports in the field as necessary.
• Make public appearances on behalf of the station.
• Other duties as assigned by GM/News Director.

Qualifications/Requirements:
- Two years experience of producing or anchoring preferred.
- A broadcast communications/journalism degree is a plus.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are a MUST!
- Ability to swiftly handle breaking news on-air, online and behind the scenes.
- Strong copy-editing skills to maintain a concise, journalistic writing style.
- Must be a go-getter who has the ability to work well under pressure.
- Must be a self-motivator who demonstrates good news judgment and decision making.
- Maintain a positive attitude and work environment.
- Employment is contingent on a motor vehicle background check.
