Job Summary/Responsibilities:

WGEM's News Director is responsible for supervising and coordinating the news staff, and all their activities, in a manner that produces quality, relevant content for our Tri-State area. By employing all available resources, the News Director makes sure trusted content is delivered to our communities, across multiple platforms, in the most timely, efficient, and effective manner possible.

Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Proven leadership success in the management of people, content, and local news distribution across multiple platforms.
- Passion for visual production and storytelling, combined with an unwavering commitment to journalistic ethics and standards

- Dedication to meaningful community service through trusted local journalism and station initiatives.
- Ability to adapt quickly to our changes and growth in our industry, adjusting technology, workflow and human resources.
- Candidates must have the ability and willingness to teach, coach and lead by example in all items above.

Qualifications/Requirements:
• The News Director is a department head position, and part of WGEM's executive team, reporting directly to the station VP/General Manager. Experience working with departmental budgets is a plus.
• Qualified applicants should have a journalism or communications degree from an accredited four-year college, university or equivalent experience and a minimum of five years in news management experience as well as a thorough understanding of journalism in this digital age.
