WGAL TV, the Hearst-owned NBC affiliate in the Harrisburg-Lancaster market of southcentral Pennsylvania, has an opening for an experienced and dynamic News Director with the talent, passion, and leadership to advance our News department. The successful candidate will embrace our mission as a local broadcast leader, be a skilled communicator, possess integrity-based editorial judgement, and inspire others to strive for excellence. They will effectively lead our team in the execution of market-leading breaking news, weather coverage and community service on all platforms daily. Job Responsibilities:
• Management of news department including editorial leadership of impactful content across broadcast, digital, and social platforms
• Development, effective communication, and implementation of an evolving strategic plan
• Recruitment, retention, team development of news staff.
• Oversight and evolution of effective newsroom systems and processes
• Analysis and interpretation of research data to guide strategic thinking and implementation
• Administration of and recommendations for allocation of newsroom financial resources
• Strategic planning in collaboration with other department heads on station initiatives.
• In-person attendance is required

Experience Requirements:
• 3-5 years of broadcast television newsroom management experience
• Mentoring/coaching a diverse news team for maximum productivity
• Experience evolving and positively impacting news content at a local broadcast entity

Qualifications Requirements:
• A proven record of leadership and success with at least 3-5 years of managing a local news operation.
• Organizational, planning, and time management skills with a detail-oriented mindset to manage a large staff and multiple hours of daily newscasts.
• Critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound decision-making abilities that thrive in a fast-paced and collaborative environment
• Valid Driver's License.

Education:
• Related experience and/or training considered as well as a combination of education and experience.
