Manager, General Sales

Job Description

WFXR (FOX) and WWCW (CW), in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains of Roanoke/Lynchburg, Virginia has an immediate opening for a highly motivated and experienced General Sales Manager. This position will report directly to the General Manager and work closely with other Department Heads. We are looking for a Head Coach to lead and grow our Television and Digital sales team. Successful candidate must have excellent communication and leadership skills, business acumen with a high sense of urgency. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be visible in the station and in the community.

The General Sales Manager is responsible for achieving all revenue goals by building a plan, communicating that plan, and driving that plan.
• Handling all National and Political transactions while running the entire Sales Department
• Being a Leader of the Sales Team and owning the position
• Developing and executing sales ideas to increase stations' revenue
• Building and maintaining relationships with Local & National clients and WFXR/WWCW staff
• Working with other Department heads to create new and profitable franchises
• Project Management of Local and Nexstar initiatives
• Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly financial reporting
• Preparing revenue budgets and monitoring expense budgets
• Making decisions regarding hiring, training, evaluation, promotion & termination of employees
• Performing other duties as assigned

Requirements & Skills:
• Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising or Mass Communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
• Fluency in English
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, both oral and written
• Minimum five years' experience in Television Station Management
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
• Experience guiding, directing and motivating others, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance
• Experience establishing long-range objectives and specifying the strategies and actions to achieve them
• Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WideOrbit and Matrix
