Job Summary/Description:
Our Managing Editor sets the editorial tone and pace of our newsroom. This role aggressively manages content distribution on all platforms, including web, social and broadcast. Our Managing Editor tracks stories, and plans short-term, long-term, and special event coverage.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Along with News Director, helps lead editorial meetings in the morning and afternoon to vet story pitches, establish digital priorities, give feedback on newscast rundowns and provide guidance/support to reporters and producers
* Communicate assignments, deviations & new opportunities with news staff throughout the day
* Answering phones, vetting news tips, and disseminating information to the newsroom
* Assists reporters on growing enterprise and issue based story ideas
* Ensure story selection in our day planner represents newsroom standards and vision for growth
* Copy edit reporters' scripts, and web articles as needed
* Inspire innovative story treatments, including compelling live-shots, onsets, and engagements
* Along with EP and Digital EP, enforce style and quality standards, to maintain standardization across all dayparts

Qualifications/Requirements:

Education - Bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or related field, or equivalent training and/or experience. Experience - At least five years working in a television newsroom. Experience using a content management system (CMS).
* Strong news judgment, editorial skills and working knowledge of AP Style
* Strong ability and desire to collaborate with all facets of the news team
* Strong ability to develop and maintain sources in the community
* Desire to coach and train team members
