Job Summary/Description:
WCSC Live 5 has an immediate opening for a Traffic Anchor/MMJ for the market's #1 morning newscast. As one of the fastest growing cities in the country, traffic and infrastructure issues in the Charleston metro are one of Live 5's top priorities. The top candidate will be a strong anchor who can build traffic maps, ad lib breaking news and is quick to pick up the phone and track down information. Our next traffic anchor will have to have a strong knowledge of area's traffic trouble spots and how to safely navigate around them. Our traffic anchor will post breaking traffic information to all of WCSC's digital platforms. Our traffic anchor will also have MMJ responsibilities; enterprising stories about the always-changing infrastructure in Charleston. We are looking for an experienced
Primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- 2 years reporting experience preferred
- Must be prepared to work holidays, nights & weekends as assigned
- Knowledge of the Charleston area preferred
- Reporting daily for multiple newscasts
- Creative shooting, writing, editing and posting of all news stories
- Must have good writing skills
- Be able to work well under strict deadline pressure
Qualifications/Requirements:
Ideal candidate should have at least two years experience as a reporter for a broadcast news station or news website. The successful applicant's background must include, at minimum, a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism or a related field. You must be a self-starter, with knowledge of and ability to operate state-of-the-art television news equipment as well as website publishing and social media.
