Job Summary/Description:
WBTV in Charlotte is seeking a live streaming producer to join our team of forward-thinking, innovative journalists. This talented individual will create informative, impactful content for our broadcast and digital platforms while growing our multi-platform audience. The ideal candidate would be responsible for planning and producing a new daily morning newscast exclusively for our streaming channels in addition to leading the day as the producer of WBTV News This Morning for broadcast.
Duties and responsibilities include but are note limited to:
- Create and execute new live and recorded programs for everywhere WBTV News streams, including Roku, Amazon Fire, Apple TV and Android TV
- Lead the way on live breaking news and weather and traffic coverage
- Communicate and assist the digital staff during breaking news
- Line produce live newscast daily
- Select content and write clear and conversational scripts
- Coordinate with digital producers and anchors on cross-platform content
- Communicate with anchors, assignment desk, field crews, editors, and others to ensure execution of a high-quality newscast
- Produce live breaking news and special event coverage
- Fill in on other dayparts as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred, equivalent experience considered
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a line producer
- Experience producing with multiple live sources
- Excellent writing, showcasing, time management skills required
- Must exhibit understanding of broadcast, digital, social, and streaming platforms in a local news context
- Work a flexible schedule which may include weekends and holidays
