Job Summary/Description:

WBTV is looking for an investigative reporter to add to our growing WBTV Investigative unit. The right candidate will be motived by holding the powerful accountable, passionate about helping people cut through red tape to get the help they need and want to dig deep to get to the 'why' behind major breaking news. Our newsroom is committed to hard-hitting investigative journalism that gets results. We are looking for someone who can juggle multiple short- and long-term projects at once. Knowledge of public records is a must. Experience with data journalism or computer-assisted reporting is appreciated.

Duties/Responsibilities will include (but not limited to):
• Generate, report and present investigative story ideas
• Contribute investigative reporting to major breaking news events, as needed
• Work on major investigative projects, individually or as part of a team
• Help viewers solve problems that they submit to the WBTV tip line
• Create content for WBTV.com, including written digital articles and original streaming investigative products

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred, equivalent experience considered
• A minimum of 4 years reporting experience is required, with experience turning investigative stories
• Extensive live experience
• Excellent writing and time management skills
• Track-record of developing strong relationships with a variety of sources
• Understanding of and adherence to AP Style (for digital platforms) and broadcast writing (for television)
• Must exhibit an understanding of broadcast, digital, social and streaming platforms
• Must include an example of recent work with application
