Job Summary/Description:
WBTV is looking for an investigative producer to join our team of award-winning journalists on the WBTV Investigates team. The successful candidate will have a track record of in-depth reporting that draws on the use of public records, computer-assisted reporting, confidential sources, and data journalism. We are looking for someone who can manage multiple projects at once, work collaboratively with others and is hungry to do stories that can bring about real change and solutions in our growing community.
Duties and responsibilities include but are note limited to:
- Generate investigative story ideas
- Assist reporters, photographers, anchors with newsgathering for short and long-term investigative and enterprise projects
- Urgently develop and implement investigative angles to elevate breaking news coverage
- Manage the WBTV Investigates tip line by vetting tips and story ideas to identify and prioritize original and timely investigative pieces
- Assist in generating teases, promotions and other marketing material for investigative stories
- Research, create, coordinate and producer investigative specials for television broadcast and streaming devices
- Create content for WBTV.com, including written digital articles and coordinating original streaming investigative product
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A minimum of 2 years reporting experience is required
- Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field preferred
- Understanding of and adherence to AP Style (for digital platforms) and broadcast writing (for television)
