Job Description:

Job Title: Director, Digital Strategy & Business Development Executions

A little bit about our team:

WMG's Digital Strategy & Business Development Executions team is responsible for leading the operational rollouts of the group's innovative new deals, partnerships, strategies, and frameworks to all of WMG's global operating divisions. The team works extremely closely with WMG's labels, territories, artists, and external partners to generate excitement and educate people about new opportunities, match those opportunities with the right artists, communicate essential information, pioneer new cross-functional business processes, and shepherd novel creative activations to market. The team also oversees WMG's Voice Lab, a group of subject matter experts with a tactical focus on leveraging voice technology to further all of WMG's goals.

Your role:

In this fast-paced role within the Business Development Executions team, the Director is responsible for implementing corporate digital strategy and driving the future of the music industry across labels, A&R, digital operations, mar-tech, artist development teams and more.

The Director is responsible for project-managing new music technology partnerships for artist and label activations. The role will grow new partnerships and technologies from initial test-and-learn pilot stages, through to informed and scaled adoption across WMG.

The Director is responsible for collaboratively defining processes, implementing, and project-managing Web3 adoption, gaming initiatives, voice technology and associated metadata, virtual merch and more. Day-to-day work is both strategic and operational; requiring asset management, contracts and rights tracking, creative collaboration and approval management – all whilst maintaining project trackers and communicating with artists and stakeholders.

Key to the role is communication across the business, to drive adoption of these new processes and technologies. As such, the Director is responsible for educational materials and documentation for WMG's labels, operational teams, artist managers, Business Affairs, Business Development and more.

Here you'll get to:
• Manage project tracking tools for WMG and external stakeholders.
• Drive asset collection, rights and creative approvals for multiple concurrent artist activations.
• Leverage your relationships with the music-tech community, label teams, artist managers and artists.
• Collaborate with labels, artists, and WMG's new business partners to build pilots and case-studies for the business.
• Drive and maintain project and activation momentum. Ensure case studies and pilots are of value to the business, and delivered with valuable and actionable insights.
• Develop strategy and processes for implementing new partnerships into WMG's labels and central services ecosystem.
• Collaborate with label marketing teams and WMG Corporate Comms on go-to-market strategy for partners and partner-activations.
• Liaise with internal and external teams to educate on new technologies and explain opportunities.
• Develop summary educational materials (one-pagers, FAQs, emails, etc.) for new deals.

As a core member of the WMG Voice Lab you'll get to:
• Manage voice activations with a focus on evolving partner relationships, new partner functionality, consumer behaviors and insights, and scalability for the WMG business.
• Collaborate with labels and Digital Operations to build creative, effective, and feasible voice-driven activations.
• Collaborate with The Voice Lab Help to define an actionable framework for the global evolution of WMG's voice business over the next 3-5 years.
• Evangelize voice technology internally, highlighting relevant information for different audiences and educating internal teams on important platform developments.
• Provide voice-specific guidance when needed by other parts of the business.
• Coordinate with agency partner(s) on a day-to-day basis.

About you:
• You are interested in new tech trends and the future of digital content consumption: including Web3 technologies, NFT art, music technology, voice technology, digital native music discovery and more.
• You have a functional understanding of the music rights landscape.
• You possess problem-solving proactivity: an agility to learn, immerse yourself, and drive a complex and constantly evolving area of the music industry.
• You are a people-person with strong communication skills: verbal and written. You are energized by developing and nurturing relationships across multiple communities.
• You love being organized and have demonstrated a keen attention to detail.
• You thrive in a fast paced, insights and project-driven environment and can manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

We'd love it if you also had:
• 5+ years prior experience working in the music industry: in a similar role in a label, music technology firm, or artist management.
• Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
• Prior experience working with artists and artist managers.
• Prior experience in digital marketing and/or project management.
• Prior experience with project management software (Airtable, Notion, Asana, Google Docs etc).
• Experience with digital asset creation and management (Adobe Photoshop, Dropbox, Sharepoint, etc.)
• Experience with CRM newsletter tools (Mailchimp, Banana Tag, etc)
