The Job
WarnerMedia seeks a Technical Manager for the MSC - Media Software Engineer department. The Technical Manager position within the MSE department is responsible for overseeing multiple applications and managing a small number of independent development teams and workstreams. An individual in this position is also responsible for ensuring that all development, testing and support processes are being followed and for building and maintaining a cohesive team that is able to perform all development, maintenance and support tasks that are required to support the needs of the business.
The Daily
• Work with the development team to determine the effort needed to modify the existing Media Supply Chain Acquisition and Fulfillment workflows to ensure that continue to meet the needs of our business users from CASO and Media Operations along with ensuring that the different parts of the Media Supply Chain are in sync with each other along with the HBO Max Platform.
• Work with the product owner from within the PMO to determine the priority of the work to be done, ensuring that all deadlines are met, and schedules align.
• Ensure that all content ingestion and fulfillment workflows are working as expected and all content is able to make it to its destination in the correct format.
• Build and manage the development teams ensuring that each team is made up correctly and that everybody on the team has acquired the skills and knowledge to perform the duties of the job.
The Essentials
• 9+ years of software development experience, with a strong focus on web API/service and web application development
• 7+ years of enterprise application-level JavaScript/HTML/CSS application development experience
• 4+ years of AWS technologies (EC2, S3, IAM security, API-Gateway, lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, CloudFormation, etc.). The ideal candidate will have meaningful experience with and an enthusiasm for AWS provisioning and operations concerns
• Strong working knowledge of XML/XSLT/XPATH, JSON, and associated tools/technologies
• 2+ years of experience with NoSQL databases such as mongo or DynamoDB
• 2+ years of Java/Scala or a mix of other modern programming languages, where two years ideally include enterprise development using common frameworks like Spring and Hibernate (or other ORM tools)
• Experience managing development teams members, requirements and timelines.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to interact with all levels of technical and non-technical personnel
• Drive to master emerging technologies and work members of the team to implement the new technologies following proven best practices and standards
• Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills
• Ability to understand goals, strategies, and needs of the business as they relate to application development
• Ability to foster an inclusive agile development environment and create a positive influence on other members of the team
