Sr. Director, Data Science (Experimentation Platform)

Senior Director, Experimentation Platform – Data Science and Engineering

The Senior Director, Experimentation Platform will grow and lead a talented team of data scientists, engineers, and analysts to develop and support experimentation methods and infrastructure at HBO Max. This role will be focused on building experimentation platform to scale our A/B testing, and developing experimentation research and analytics to drive learnings and innovation.

The Daily
• Develop vision, strategy and roadmap for experimentation platform. Partner closely with product management, engineering, design, marketing, and content teams to develop experimentation standards and best practice for HBO Max.
• Lead experimentation research, experimental design, statistical methods, causal inference modeling, and analytics efforts to optimize user experience, and to improve data-driven decision making for Product, Marketing and Content.
• Develop experimentation platform infrastructure to enable A/B testing, research, statistical computation, analytics and reporting at a large global scale.
• Build innovative tools and system to orchestrate a continuous learning cycle, inference, and observation while also maintaining high system reliability.
• Build and grow a multidisciplinary experimentation data team, managing priorities, growing skills, and developing equity and inclusion culture.

The Essentials
• Bachelor's degree in statistics, computer science, engineering or related quantitative field; advanced degree a plus
• 12+ years of experience in a data-intensive role, with a strong focus on engineering, data science and ML, and at least 5+ years of leadership experience
• Advanced knowledge of experimental design, methodology, statistical and causal inference models
• Strong experience with experimentation platform and infrastructure to scale A/B testing
• Experience in building and launching large scale data driven features, products, platforms and tools
• Extensive experience with business intelligence solutions (Looker, Tableau, etc.) and big data platform (AWS, Snowflake, Spark, Google Cloud etc.)
• Works effectively cross functional teams to build trusted partnership
• Self-starter and self-motivated with the proven ability to deliver results in a fast-paced, high-energy environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Experience building, managing, and growing teams with strong functional expertise and influence, while fostering a supportive learning environment
• Experience with e-commerce, streaming, and/or direct-to-consumer business preferred
