Job Description
This role will work with a fast-paced team to create a data and BI technology stack that can be used to deliver end-user insights used for developing the next generation of digital products and product strategies. It will help build out an internal data pipeline and develop ways to optimize big data technologies to shape our digital data strategy. This role will be matrixed into the business unit and our technical organization, with work directives guided by the NBA Digital business unit. NBAD requires data engineering capabilities to help drive efficient data collection, data transformation, data ingestion, and data analysis that will support expanded marketing. This position will ease the work of data analysis and insights gathering from the data that creates a 360-degree view of our customers. These activities will help us better target and expand our marketing efforts. Role needs to be integrated into the EDS work processes and able to work within the EDS frameworks (shared responsibilities with some level of autonomy)

Gain an understanding of brand and enterprise data warehouse/reporting requirements that will inform the data architecture and modeling approach. Employ these learnings to construct appropriate ETL processes, database queries, LookML models/Tableau Data Models and data/permission models that support data aggregation and reporting on actionable insights

Collaborate closely with internal and matrixed departments, including but not limited to Operations, Technology, PMO, Product Teams, Data Strategy/Insights, Customer Service, Enterprise Data Systems, and Marketing to design, build, test and deploy data warehouse solutions and reporting tools

Manage Snowflake and Looker accounts on behalf of the NBAD team. This encompasses all aspects of the analytics layer for business needs including dashboard creation, building semantic layer views, implementing/granting access controls in the respective tools and providing expertise on what solutions can be implemented moving forward.

Gain an understanding of multiple datasets to be able to perform ad-hoc analysis for different business units

Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements that optimize data delivery to stakeholders, using the foundational elements of the data warehouse, BI tool, and other 'big data' technologies

Participate in QA testing for data pipeline projects as well as implementation changes to the suite of analytical tools like Adobe and Conviva.

Minimum of five years of experience in digital research, analytics, experimentation design, and consumer insights

Experience with sports, media, or entertainment

Experience leveraging creative analytics techniques and output to tell a story to drive business decisions

Experience working within a matrixed environment (e.g., product, marketing, advertising sales, business operations, etc.)

Experience performing and leading teams on advanced quantitative analyses

Experience with digital consumer products and technology with broad industry and functional experience

Experience with programming languages – SQL, Python (optional: Spark) and databases (Snowflake, Postgres, Dynamo DB)

Experience with AWS cloud services – Kinesis, Lambda, IAM Policies

Expertise with digital marketing tools – Adobe Analytics, Adobe VHL, Conviva, Amplitude, Braze, CDPs, Microsoft platforms

Must be able to thrive in a hypothesis-based environment where inductive rather than deductive reasoning drives decisioning. Able to draw conclusions from imperfect information

Can drive discussions with senior leadership on best practices, risks, and tradeoffs

Solid business acumen, and critical problem-solving ability, with a capacity for strategic thinking

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
