Senior Producer, Newsource

Job Description

The Senior Producer of Newsource Live is responsible for managing a team focused on all aspects of the Atlanta based Newsource Live service, including live shot production, live channel programming, and original production of broadcast and digital packages for CNN affiliates.

The position is responsible for ensuring the Newsource Live team produces material that is editorially relevant, is progressive and visually compelling and meets the standards of CNN and its affiliates.

The role takes the lead in dispatching reporters and field crews to cover breaking news and planned events. At times, The Senior Producer travels to facilitate live services at events, such as political conventions, debates, etc. The position works closely with CNN assignment desks, planning and special event organizers in resource allocation and execution of planned objectives on behalf of affiliate partners.

The Daily
• Editorially directs the production of daily franchise packages and news of the day packages to meet the contractual obligations and daily needs of the Newsource affiliates. i.e. health, consumer and national story of the day.
• Ensures broadcast affiliates have access to CNN Bureaus worldwide, live event and breaking news facilities (convention hall, satellite truck, LiveU, standup location) or CNN reporter (Newsource correspondent or CNN GA) coverage. i.e. political conventions, hurricanes, flooding, terror attacks worldwide.
• The role ensures Broadcast affiliates and digital clients have access to live events important to their audiences, including hearings and events from DC to breaking regional stories throughout the US and Canada.
• Manages content producers' and package producers' work performance, schedules and various other aspects of team leadership.

The Essentials
• Bachelor's Degree in journalism, communication or like field of study
• 5 years or above editorial experience in broadcast news; producing, writing, etc.
• Knowledge of SNG, TVU, LiveU and other means of transmission.
• 24/7 availability and flexibility
• Field producing and or major event coverage experience
