Production Manager

Job Description

The HLN Production Manager will work closely with HLN Art Directors and other CNN Design leaders to help maintain effective communication between our groups. They will assist in the regular assessment of our workflows, formats and procedures and help identify and maintain large-scope production management tools for our department. They will attend weekly operational meetings, help track production costs and timelines, and consistently monitor air while offering suggestions to improve upon our product. The HLN Production Manager will also coordinate and track all CNN Design music development for projects which require original music composition.

The Daily:
• Work in tandem with Business Administrators and other Production Managers from all of CNN Design to help maintain communication between our groups
• Attend weekly operational meetings with other design leaders
• Track projects on our Sharepoint Database (i.e. - keeping track of music usage, font libraries, etc.)
• Establish production timelines & cost
• Track cost allocations
• Identify and maintain department-wide production management tools
• Coordinate and track all CNN Design music development for projects which require original music composition
• Set-up and distribute documents of department's best practices and workflows
• Organize server file structure and archive projects as needed
• Assist with onboarding, tech support, and staff scheduling as needed
• Monitor air and offer quality control
• Assist HLN Art Directors in achieving longer-term departmental goals (i.e. - working with editorial partners to improve the look of HLN's pre-produced packages)
• Aid in organizing testing and rehearsals for live production (booking control rooms, EGOs, etc.)

The Essentials:
• Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Supervisor of the production of TV Graphics (or similar)
• Experience prioritizing/managing expectations with clients under extremely tight deadlines
• Experience with project estimates and production tracking according to budget while work is ongoing
• Excellent computer, communications, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Experience working with IT/Engineering to make sure all software is integrated and supported successfully
• Ability to train, manage and lead team members through effective communication
• Monitor production processes and adjust schedules as needed
• Strategic, organizational growth and development experience
