The Job
The Production Manager has an overall responsibility for the workflows of the department, including but not limited to the following:
1. Department workflows and procedures
2. Quality control
3. Staff and client communication
4. Staff development
5. Technical and production consultation
6. Scheduling
7. Hiring
The position also stays current with design strategies and techniques and is asked to pinch in with production when the demands of the department require additional hands on design execution.
The Production Manager works closely with the Creative Directors, Design Directors and Assistant Art Directors to ensure the design standards of CNN are implemented and maintained, and with the Show Producers to ensure editorial needs are being met.

The Daily
This position works with the Creative Directors, Design Director and Assistant Art Directors to guide the production of all design elements utilized in CNN programming and feature programming. These elements include but are not limited to: Templated vizrt graphics, still and animated graphics, scenic design and sound design.
The Production Manager works closely with the Creative Director to support scheduling with the staff, attends project and workflow meetings and supports communicating production needs and the scope of requests with the department.
The Production Manager leverages an in-depth knowledge of Daily Graphics, Team Schedules, production talents and helps the Creative Director distribute, communicate, and schedule the production work in order to maximize the capabilities of the department.
The Production Manager supports alongside the Creative Director with editorial and features teams to ensure efficiencies and brand standards are met.
They are also critical in onboarding new employees, training them on the process for accepting graphics requests through iNews, executing graphics requests using Photoshop and Illustrator, saving the final product in Viz Object Store and alerting the editorial team through iNews)
Prioritize and manage several projects at one time, including continued contribution to individual daily production projects as an effective pinch hitter for Production Designer assignments when necessary.
The Production Manager effectively communicates with Creative and Design Directors, Feature team Directors, and News Producers to coordinate production and distribution of design elements.
The Production Manager supervises the team effectively through the following:

• Regularly engage the team in dialogue to maintain awareness of staff sentiment and concerns.
The Production Manager implements quality control measures in order to maintain the design standards and accuracy of the Daily Graphics product.

The Essentials

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 4 years of experience as a Production Designer or Graphics Supervisor, Experience prioritizing/managing expectations with clients under extremely tight deadlines, Excellent computer, communications, organizational and interpersonal skills, Proficient in electronic design software including After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator, Understanding of vizRT (real-time, template driven graphics delivery system), Proficiency in newsroom software, including iNews and MediaSource, Subject matter expert in respective design discipline (design, animation, viz, scenic, etc.), Experience working with IT/Engineering to troubleshoot hardware and software issues, Ability to work under pressure, and deliver projects on time is critical; must be highly organized; ability to solve problems, Team player with attention to detail and excellent written and verbal communication skills, Must be able to work long hours and weekends when needed

Desirable Requirements:
Solution-oriented approach to achieve strategic and messaging objectives across key audiences, Experience working with IT/Engineering to make sure all custom software is integrated and supported successfully, Strategic, organizational growth and development experience, Proficient in electronic design software including Cinema 4D.

Educational Requirements:

Degree from accredited college or university in graphic arts, fine arts, theater, commercial art or architecture, or equivalent work experience.
