The Job

Warner Bros. Animation Inc. seeks a Pipeline Supervisor for the Post Prod.- Various Projects department.

The Pipeline Supervisor is responsible for planning and implementing the future technologies that will connect all of the pre-production and post-production services at WBA. They will supervise the development of software tools that control and automate the flow of information as it moves through the pipeline from the beginning of pre-production through final post and delivery.

Responsible for creating and maintaining software and Shotgun tools, providing front-line support to artists and leads, editorial, post-production, and archiving and general troubleshooting of both a 2D and CG pipeline in a fast-paced production environment.

The Daily
• Provide support and development of tools and procedures to enhance the pipeline for Production Management and creative teams. Create and maintain a pipeline roadmap for WBA in consultation with the various stake holders; Production Management, Designers, Editorial, Post-Production, Marketing, etc.
• Help maintain a wide array of existing workflows and scripts. Maintain and extend our in-house software repository. Provide guidance and best-practices to software engineers and TDs working on internal pipeline tools as well as external technology partners.
• Design/develop reporting tools to work between Shotgun, Smartsheets and Tableau.
• Design systems for automation of tasks for optimal efficiency.
• Develop/design user interfaces for use by Production Management and Creative teams.
• Work closely with Pipeline Developers (including external partners) to test, validate and deploy new and modified software systems and enhancements to ensure they work properly throughout the production process.
• Identify/resolve/debug technical issues.
• Create, organize and carry out training sessions so team members are able to properly use the tools and methods.
• Ensure software development follows studio policies and guidelines. Create/update documentation for the pipeline and tools to reflect any changes made.

The Essentials
• 3 - 5 years previous work experience in visual effects for film, commercials or television.
• CG Television Animation production, equivalent production experience a plus.
• Experience with developing tools for Shotgun required.
• Master's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Animation or a related field.
• Highly experienced with Shotgun (5+ years).
• Must understand current industry animation techniques, and technologies
• Knowledge of Smartsheets and Tableau (or similar)
• Knowledge of Autodesk Maya application
• Scripting/Programming / API's / Plugins
• Experience with Apache2 HTTP, Wiki Servers, MEL, and PyMel preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of Mac OS, Windows, and Linux preferred.
• Experienced with writing Python and MEL scripts.
• A firm understanding of GUI toolkits such as PySide and Tk.
• Must have ability to adapt to changing software applications.
• Excellent communication skills
• Familiarity with naming conventions and file organization
• Working knowledge of industry standard production tools. Premiere, Avid, Photoshop, After Effects, Storyboard Pro, Harmony
• Experience with different editorial systems and strategies to improve and automate workflow between production, Premiere, AVID and Quantel
• Must have a strong sense of Programming and Troubleshooting, to help build innovating tools.
• Must have the ability to communicate effectively and tactfully both written and verbally with production team including Producers, Directors and artists
• Must have the ability to pay close attention to details
• Must understand oral and written instruction
• Must be pro-active and be an effective problem solver.
• Must have ability to lead with a positive attitude and encourage collaboration
• Must be organized and have ability to manage time and balance priorities amid the pressures of busy, deadline-driven production
• Must be able to handle multiple tasks
• Demonstrates ability to be proactive and follows through on every task assigned.
