The Position

WB Games San Diego is seeking a Lead Software Engineering Manager, a talented, proactive, and hard-working individual who will manage, mentor, and guide a Team of highly skilled Engineers at all levels.

Reporting to the Director of Engineering, as the Lead Software Engineering Manager, you will also help navigate roadblocks, and focus resources to deliver the best solutions to drive excellence in all aspects of AAA game development.

You must demonstrate high competency as a team leader and have a true passion for game development.

The Daily
• Build on the culture of inclusivity and growth through coaching, career management, and mentorship
• Work with the production team to facilitate scheduling and planning
• Collaborate with the feature owners & engineers to architect and build systems
• Assist engineers writing Technical Proposals, reviewing execution plans and ensuring alignment against strategic technology development goals
• Help identify and articulate technical challenges and risks along with proposed solutions
• Willingness to help Innovate and iterate on process, systems, and technology to deliver world-class social next-generation games
• Practice what you preach, diving in and contributing directly to development efforts when necessary
• Improve configuration management and deployment processes

The Essentials
• Minimum 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, working on cross-functional teams
• 3+ years in a leadership role managing a team of engineers
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience
• Expert in C++ (Templates, OO Design, Exception Handling, Multi-Threading, etc.)
• Experience in practicing agile development practices, and strong working knowledge of a variety of project management techniques.
• Strong problem solving, debugging, and troubleshooting skills
• Clear, concise, and transparent communicator - both written and verbal
• Be a self-motivated team player with a positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Ability to self-manage when given prioritized goals and objectives
• Seek out opportunities to improve technically and professionally
• A passion for video games
