The Role:
Under the direction of the Vice President of Corporate Communications and working closely with the Communications leaders across WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group divisions, the UK-based Director will formulate and execute proactive corporate communications strategies and press relations activities across the business.
This is an exciting opportunity to enhance the company's external position as an industry leader in creativity and innovation, and its global relevance and reach, by devising and executing corporate communications plans, working with relevant teams to ensure buy-in and effectiveness.
You will grow and maintain relationships with trade and business press contacts in the UK and across key international territories, working with relevant local management.
What you'll be doing:
• Provide communications counsel and support along with US-based Communications leaders to senior management – including preparation for presentations and panels, press interviews, crisis management support, and managing external messaging opportunities
• Work with the US-based Corporate Communications and Public Affairs team on corporate messaging and press releases
• Grow and maintain close working relationships with UK and international business and media correspondents, PR contacts, and key senior executives across WarnerMedia Studios and Networks Group businesses, to ensure Corporate Communications is the primary point of contact for any PR counsel
• Provide Corporate Communications counsel and support to franchise teams of key company brands
• Develop communications strategies and oversees day-to-day communications for WarnerMedia Studios and Network Group Public Affairs activities, initiatives, and programs in the areas of community engagement, corporate responsibility, sustainability, production affairs and philanthropy
• Oversee community press efforts, generating and handling stories related to community activities as well as employee volunteer or business resource group activities
• Work on broad corporate issues and media projects as needed in collaboration with US-based corporate communications team
• Assist with corporate events and special projects, including delegation visits, meetings and executive filming requests
• Performs other related duties or special projects as required
What we're looking for:
• Related experience in PR including external and internal communications. You should have experience either in-house or PR agency account management and press relations
• Sound understanding of the major news sources around the world
• Knowledge and interest of the particular issues impacting the film, television and video games industries
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• BS/BA in PR/Communications, Journalism, English or related field preferred
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management
• Excellent document drafting and proof-reading skills, with close attention to detail
• Tactful in resolving problems and able to maintain confidentiality
• Flexible and responsive to the business requirements and breaking news, able to work under strict time constraints and meet deadlines
• Reliable and able to attend various activities before, during and after regular business hours
• Must take initiative and be able to work with limited management but equally a strong team player
