The Job
Warner Bros. Studio Operations (''WBSO'') is seeking a Counsel that will be responsible for handling legal issues and negotiating and drafting contracts for our facilities, studio production, tour operations and retail sales across the globe (Burbank, New York, UK, and Tokyo). Reporting into the Senior Vice President of Legal & Business Affairs, this position will be responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to WBSO managers and executives, supporting the studio's Safety Department, and maintaining responsibility for all facility related documentation. The Counsel will also assist in carrying out the responsibilities of the department such as: handling all legal and business affairs matters for WBSO including negotiating and drafting all business and construction-related contracts, purchase and sale agreements, maintaining government agency compliance including OSHA and DOT regulations, providing advice for safety and environmental matters.
The Daily
• Provide general legal advice in business/legal affairs issues for Studio Operations Leads
• Assist with contracts and give advice for retail operations in Burbank, New York, the UK and Tokyo, and their related ecommerce business.
• Negotiate and draft a wide variety of agreements including, without limitation, safety, environmental, operations, security, production, construction, retail, and procurement.
• Perform legal research to aid SVP Legal/Business Affairs in responding to legal questions which arise.
• Respond to calls from and meet with various departments to provide solutions to aid department managers in resolving legal issues that arise with their respective teams
• Assist with WB Studio Operations litigation matters.
• Handle contracts for Post-production sound and picture services.
The Essentials
• 3 – 5 years of experience at a law firm or in-house required
• Transactional and contract law experienced preferred
• Bachelor's degree required
• Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school required
• Admission to California Bar Required and bar membership must be in good standing
• Strong drafting and analytical skills – ability to interpret agreements, contracts and other legal documents
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Ability to effectively deal with difficult, strong-willed people, such as opposing attorneys, vendors, and business executives at all levels
• Strong project and time management skills - Ability to juggle multiple and complex projects, agreements, and issues at one time as a team player for Legal and Business Affairs issues across multiple facilities in various geographic locations.
• Work in a fast-paced environment, responding quickly to legal issues that arise.
• Work well under time constraints, meet deadlines, organize, and schedule work effectively.
• Communicate effectively and tactfully with persons on all levels, in person and on the telephone.
• Pay close attention to detail and understand written and oral instructions.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
