Associate Sports Producer

Job Description

The Role:

As an Associate Sports Producer we are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic individual who has a passion for all things news and sport. As the Associate Producer you will be expected to work across multiple roles which include newsgathering, segment writing, producing, package and field production, as well as working with a number of internal teams across CNN digital/broadcast on a global scale.

The Daily:
• Supporting editorial treatment and presentation of stories for tv and digital
• Work with anchors and correspondents, providing editorial and production support
• Coordinating coverage & assignments around breaking sports news
• Identify, book and execute news-making guests
• Calls to professional teams/organizations for information
• Field producing during major sports events
• Edit content for CNN sports programming

The Essentials:
• Editorial experience: solid editorial judgment/awareness and ability to quickly identify stories
• Sports news experience; competent sports knowledge
• Proficient news writing skills
• Strong understanding of newsgathering techniques
• Social media expertise
• Experience in breaking news and producing under news deadline situations
• Flexible schedule – nights, early mornings and weekends are required
• Digital and social knowledge and working experience
• Non-linear editing experience

The Nice-to-Haves
• Working with graphics
• Experience working on international assignments
• Fluency in multiple languages
