The Job

Working on a long form animation based on a successful Warner Bros. property, the 1st Assistant Editor will support the editors in managing the editing process on the film, from initial import and assembly to final online, and outputs. In addition to the Picture Editor, this person is the repository for all technical knowledge of the editing process on the film. Duties include receiving, importing, organizing, and offline assembling of picture materials, secondary effects, titling, online, various QuickTime encodes, and outputs to various interchange, delivery, and archive file formats. Extensive knowledge and experience of the Assistant Editorial process with Avid Media Composer, including import/export to/from all final delivery file formats is preferred.

This is a fixed term contract for a duration of two years.

The Daily
• Prepare picture media and import and distribute media (storyboards and shots) over network to editors.
• Perform Quality Control on any file imports and final picture
• Deliver digital files (Quicktimes, AAFs, change notes, DCPs, XMLs.) internally and externally as directed by editor or production
• Publish accurate cutlists (EDLs, AAFs, changes notes, XMLs) for output to production departments
• Prepare media and perform Quality Control on file and film outputs picture departments, screenings, previews, DI, grade etc
• Prepare and help maintain the studio sound effects and music databases
• Conduct music and effect searches as directed
• Supervise, log, process and transcribe scratch and production dialog recording sessions.
• Make audio masters and organize backup copies
• Responsible for liasing with recording engineers to ensure the audio settings are met for production dialogue records
• Responsible for liaising with sound department to ensure all deliverables for final mix are met

The Essentials
• Extensive knowledge of at least one NLE, Avid Media Composer preferred
• Photoshop, Premiere, After Effects, DaVinci Resolve, and Storyboard Pro knowledge a plus
• Experience in Avid ScriptSync is preferred
• Experience as an Assistant Editor, or similar exposure within film production preferred
• Experience as an Assistant Editor with feature or TV Animation preferred
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Strong ability to multi-task and take a creative, inquisitive approach to problem solving
• Must be able to work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize workload in a dynamic and changing environment
