The Position

The Vice President, Creative, Format, Development and Sales will report to Andrew Zein, Senior Vice President Creative, Format Development and Sales.

The role will
• interface between WBITVP (Warner Bros. International Television Production) and Warner Bros. Studios (domestic) on all forms of intellectual property within the two groups to ensure that exploitable formats and IPR flows between the two units and will be integral to the creative adaption of ideas from one unit to the other.
• sits in with the creative teams of 3 Warner Bros. domestic production units – Scripted (WBTV), Non-Scripted (Warner Horizon, Shed and Telepictures) with an international hat on, influencing and creating inflow and outflow.
• charged with overseeing the adaptation, development, and sale of programming based on formats and concepts developed from within the International Television Production Group and international 3rd party producers.
• Manage WB format sales into Canada

Based in Los Angeles, CA.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Partner with WB Studio in establishing a two-way channel of open communication between WBITVP and WB Studio for the purpose of identifying, developing and exploiting formats and IP outward to the international marketplace and inward to the domestic US marketplace.
• Where is WBITVP IP is not of interest or not suitable for one of the in-house production arms, prepare pitch materials and present the formats to WBD platforms (including Discovery services), third-party producers and third party platforms/ broadcasters
• Act as conduit and aggregator of exploitable formats and IPR (trends, sensations) from the international TV marketplace that have US market potential by identifying and overseeing the creative adaptation of either WBITVP owned formats; 3rd party formats that WBITVP represents; or 3rd party formats that might be of interest ad hoc (not WBITVP owned).
• Partner with WB Studio to ensure WBITVP is aware of any existing WB Studio intellectual property (formats, series, pilots, developments, presentation tapes, ideas that didn't make it to screen) with potential for adaptation and exploitation in the international TV marketplace.
• Mine the WB back catalog to evaluate formats with potential for international exploitation and subsequently develop chosen formats for the international television marketplace.
• Manage the relationship between WBITVP and WB Studio as well as the communication and flows of materials and information with originating producers.
• Manage the flow and quality of materials, including adapting paperwork and materials to suit the use required.
• Host international clients (both WB owned opcos and 3rd party producers) visiting the WB lot and on North American sets for tapings of new and recurring formats for new sales and/or production consulting purposes.
• Manage international first-looks deal that have come via WBITVP to WB US (scripted and unscripted) to ensure proper communication.
• Create production bibles on new US created formats by communicating with local production execs and the commissioning broadcaster.
• Work closely with the originating IPR creator and the unit to which the IPR is flowing in creatively developing and adapting the IPR for the relevant unit's market.
• Responsible for the pitching of creative new formats and ideas to WB Studios and WBITVP alike.
• Responsible for format sales into Canadian market, coordinating closely with WB ITD Canada.

The Person
• Record of achievement developing formats (having been a Buyer or producer/EP at some point a plus)
• Has perspective and knowledge of worldwide television market
• Possesses strong interpersonal and communications skills
• Demonstrated track record of success in development and adaptation
• Ability to work with producers, hands-on production experience desirable
• Passion for television
• Fluency in a second language a plus.

Education

A Bachelors' degree from an accredited and recognized institution of higher learning ideal

The Legal Bits…
In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. $175,000.00 - $325,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
