Software Engineer II (Data Engineer II)

The Job

You will work under moderate supervision with an Agile team of engineers, architects, data scientists, and business partners to build data pipelines that transform data into valuable assets that provide consumer insights and build applications to monetize and drive advertising, marketing, content, and other business goals within Warner Bros Discoveries businesses.

The Day-to-Day
• Work on high-profile data analytics, data derivation/curation, and data pipelines to deliver robust cloud-based solutions
• Create consumer data domains and data powered applications to drive experiences across the Warner Bros Discovery suite of DTC products.
• Leverage existing and develop new tools to ingest, clean, and merge data
• Utilize programming languages like Python, Scala, cloud based data warehousing services such as Snowflake, and cloud based AI platforms such as Databricks.
• Create ''End to End'' solutions, data pipelines using orchestration tools such as Airflow.
• Define data requirements, gather and mine large-scale structured and unstructured data, and validate data by running various data tools in a Cloud Big Data Environment

The Essentials
• Proficiency in Python and SQL
• Cloud development, preferably AWS
• Understanding of relational databases, data warehouses, dimensional modeling and cloud data storage.
• Experience with data-driven and BI applications
• Experience translating data, process, and business models into clear diagrams, data mappings, and technical designs
• Demonstrable oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated creativity and teamwork skills

The Extra Credit
• Knowledge of machine learning and artificial intelligence
• Proficiency in Scala
• Experience with BI frameworks like Looker and Tableau
• Experience in developing ETL data pipelines
• Experience in orchestrating job workflows in Apache Airflow
• Experience is automated code Integration and deployment pipeline using Jenkins, Github.
• Knowledge of analytics foundations, particularly Databricks and Domino Data Lab
• Experience with Big Data technologies (Spark, EMR, Databricks)
• Experience in Snowflake Data Warehouse
• Knowledge of unstructured, semi-structured, NoSQL, graph, and other non-SQL data
• Experience in media, news, and/or entertainment industry
• Participation in technical professional societies and related professional certifications

Education
• BS or higher degree in Computer Science, engineering, MIS, or similar with two to five years demonstrated expertise in data or information systems engineering, with a focus on data lakes, data warehousing, analytics, data engineering, and Big Data
