Title: Senior Vice President and Chief Creative Officer

Location: New York, NY

Report To: Executive Vice President & Head of Global Communications

Position Overview: This executive will lead the creation, planning, organization and execution of all marketing activities, as well as oversee the planning and measurement of all media. They will devise and execute strategies to promote the CNN brand through advertising campaigns and other external mediums to increase CNN's brand recognition and increase affinity for the brand. CNN Marketing will partner with stakeholders across CNN and WBD to drive revenue via marketing activities. The incumbent will be tasked with building and maintaining a self-sufficient marketing capability that will bring ad production in-house to improve response time, as well as reduce costs and reliance on outside vendors. This leader will inspire a can-do departmental culture via hands-on involvement in a process committed to creative excellence.

Key job responsibilities:
• Reinforce the relevancy and prestige of the CNN brand, including enhancing and refreshing promotions for flagship shows and specials, marketing materials, marquee events, channel branding and external advertising campaigns.
• Define, measure and report the performance of all marketing activities. Constantly seek to enhance the company's analytics and split-testing capabilities. Establish campaign benchmarks. Assess results against Network goals and company-wide growth agenda.
• Use modern, measured best practices to responsibly manage and deploy a multi-million dollar on and off-channel inventory allowance and media budget. Allocate spending and optimize a blend of channels to hit Network KPIs efficiently and sustainably.
• Manage CSO and Strategy Team. Fold their data and intelligence into compelling creative campaigns that impact market share and audience engagement. Ensure their partnership with the Product, Engineering, Data and Research to develop coordinated solutions that leverage performance media and/or new innovations in marketing technology that deliver on Network objectives. Marshall alertness for competitive / defamatory threats to the CNN Brand.
• Identify the need for, and approve the use of, any ad hoc external creative resources, vendors or freelancers. Evaluate and review existing vendors and where possible reduce vendor redundancy, inefficiency and expense. Apply nimble and innovative solutions wherever possible.
• Provide longer-term strategic vision for improving the CNN Brand in innovative and potentially profitable ways. Consider niche and emerging markets, unmet audience needs, competitive threats and advantages.
• On an ongoing basis, shape any needed alterations to the CNN Brand position by regularly auditing leadership and the landscape. As required, present and effectively communicate marketing strategy to the executive team and beyond. Keep all key stakeholders informed on high level wins, challenges, and future strategies and execution plans. 'Drop in' as required to provide actionable advice and guidance to other operating units to ensure overall marketing effectiveness.

Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:
• 10+ years of experience leading the marketing function for a major brand.
• A ''dynamic doer'' attitude- upbeat, innovative, consensus-builder. Must be a transparent leader who seeks to eliminate silos and layers.
• A proven track record of running a performance driven business outlining clear goals and outcomes as well as the process for keeping teams accountable
• Experience managing a portfolio with a sizable P&L; has a reputation of being a responsible spender.
• Experience in leading and managing through transformation, including organizational design and structure
• Experience managing large teams with discipline expertise
• The proven ability to collaborate with cross functional partners in a large matrixed organization while being a courageous risk-taker who is comfortable sharing a different view point to leaders at all levels.
• Expertise in using user data to drive performance and growth
• A proven track record of building high functioning, inclusive, collaborative, cross functional teams
• Smart, outgoing, personable, and collegial, this person values networking and appreciates the importance of listening
• This executive has a growth mindset, is analytical and a critical thinker who is comfortable offering innovative and disruptive ideas challenging the status quo
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills, who inspires confidence and trust in all stakeholders, from the most junior employee to the most senior leader.
• The successful candidate understands that productivity and employee commitment are strongly affected by clear, ongoing, candid dialogue with all of the company's internal constituencies

Education

A four year degree in Marketing is highly desired; or requisite experience. A MBA or other advanced degree is a plus.

Compensation

Warner Bros. Discovery and CNN intend to attract a superior Marketing executive and is prepared to offer an attractive compensation package including a base salary, bonus, and equity.

In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles in locations where legally required. $295,330.00 - $548,470.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
