The Job

The Planning Producer, based in London, will research, book and prepare briefs for news and current affairs guests.

The Daily
• Work on the Amanpour show and in close conjunction with the show's London and New York teams.
• Confidently and quickly chase key guests, scheduling strong experts and newsmakers as well as book day-of guests and track long-term pitches.
• Identify and pitch high profile and exclusive news, current affairs and cultural figures.
• Must handle all arrangements for the interviewee including pre-interview notes, travel or broadcast components.
• Display a strong understanding of broadcast technicalities, display confidence in booking studios, coordinating Skype (or equivalent) tests for broadcast, coordinating with in-house and freelance crews, and working with satellite providers for interviewees.
• Assimilate information and work at a fast pace and be effectively responsive in breaking news conditions.
• Take part in daily editorial meetings, offering input on coverage plans and suggest new and diverse voices and pitch segment ideas.
• Collaborate well with the wider news team, especially under busy pressurised work schedules.
• The Planning Producer should be able to coordinate rapidly with the news and digital desks, to facilitate news making interviews being pushed out on all CNN platforms when appropriate

The Must Haves
• Proven experience in booking news and current affairs guests for TV at network level
• Full understanding of the logistics required to book guests along with technical requirements
• Ability to respond quickly to breaking news with strong editorial skills
• Strong understanding and interest in world events, news, and current affairs

The Nice to Haves:
• Experience in the news field is a bonus
• An interest in social media and how content is delivered on different platforms
