Job Description
The Direct To Consumer EMEA Controller is a key international accounting leader and is expected to plan, direct and coordinate all operational and statutory accounting functions within the EMEA region for Warner Bros. Discovery. This position will lead an accounting team of 12+ employees located in Warsaw.

Job Responsibilities
• Lead and oversee the DTC EMEA controllership organization. Oversight responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, ensuring all critical deadlines are met, effectively managing the DTC EMEA accounting close process, ensuring complete and accurate accounting in all relevant areas, maintaining compliance with SOX requirements, preparing, analyzing financial statement results against expectations, providing career and professional development/coaching/training to staff, and implementing process improvements to drive operational efficiencies and effectiveness.
• Managing the DTC EMEA statutory filing process (approximately 20+ legal entities per year), including the preparation and review of statutory financial statements and related audits. Working directly with the external auditors, local authorities, and WBD management to ensure all statutory filings and audits are completed on time and within budget. Ensuring local tax filing obligations and accounting requirements are maintained and compliant.
• Engage with key DTC EMEA controllership stakeholders, including FP&A Shared Services, country specific business leaders. Ensure a robust understanding of the DTC EMEA business in core operating sectors and provide responsive consultation and information as required in key business decisions.
• Provide leadership and management of key system and process integrations in the DTC EMEA controllership area over the next two to three years, especially as it relates to the recent merger with WarnerMedia and ERP initiatives. Frequently assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvements and implementing approved new processes.
• Prepare for and/or participate in accounting/finance leadership meetings and other ad-hoc tasks as assigned. Periodically evaluate personnel workload requirements within the DTC EMEA controllership function and recommend changes as necessary to drive efficiencies and increase accuracy.

Work Experience
• At least 10 years of work experience in an accounting role and a strong understanding of US GAAP, IFRS, SOX requirements, and relevant local GAAP as required
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in a supervisory/leadership role in accounting/finance
• Progressive accounting leadership experience in media & entertainment industry a plus

Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification
• BS/BA in Accounting from an accredited university
• Master's degree in Accounting or MBA a plus
• CPA or Chartered Accountant (CA) required

Knowledge/Skills
• Demonstrated background successfully leading a large international accounting team, including teams located in multiple international offices
• Strong understanding and experience managing the preparation and filing of statutory requirements within the DTC EMEA region, including coordination and management of the statutory audit process
• Experience performing financial statement analytics and monitoring of key business performance metrics
• Knowledgeable in the accounting for foreign currency matters, including hyper-inflation and other complex topics
• Ability to determine proper revenue recognition, including multi-element revenue agreements, revenue accruals, customer's incentives and commissions and financial impact of settlement in complex foreign currency environments
• Attention to detail, accuracy and strong organizational skills
• Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
• Capacity to effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must be able to work collaboratively with cross-functional team members at all levels
• Experience implementing best practices that require significant innovation for improving
• processes by applying advanced understanding of complex functional/technical and
• business issues and challenges
• Embraces change driven by evolving business initiatives and maintains positivity when time-sensitive milestones shift
• Ability to anticipate resource requirements and to make adjustments based on emerging issues and priorities
• Willing and able to travel internationally at least 10% of the year
