Director, Communications, Editorial (APAC)

The Role

This critical position for CNN entails executive responsibility for the network's public relations outreach in more than thirty countries across the Asia Pacific region. The dynamic, exciting and challenging role will develop and execute international PR strategy across all platforms of consumer and trade media to deliver increased audiences, raise CNN's brand profile and help augment revenue. It demands extensive PR project management accountability for stakeholders including newsgathering, editorial programming, commercial operations, and responsibility for reactive crisis and issue management.

Role Accountabilities
• Lead regional publicity strategy and execution: Ensure all CNN content is appropriately assessed, discussed, filtered and delivered to media, consumers and regional colleagues to raise the brand profile, increase the audience and grow revenue
• Collaborate with Marketing to ensure maximum coverage is derived from output and business goals are supported across key markets
• Editorial brand profile: Ensure that CNN's editorial operations are consistently supported, promoted and where necessary defended in areas including breaking news, correspondent profile-raising, speaking engagements and crisis management
• Lead on digital and wireless platform strategy and delivery: Provide concerted, strategic, wide-ranging support for this key area of growth. Position CNN as an industry leader in both consumer and trade press
• Corporate Communications: Support Warner Bros. Discovery corporate comms requests and initiatives, including but not limited to internal communications, brand profile-raising in trade and consumer press
• Working closely with the APAC PR Director for CNN International Commercial, support ad sales, research, distribution and content sales PR strategy and delivery: cement and develop CNN's profile, particularly in the trade press, as the pre-eminent multi-platform destination for regional and global advertisers and other business partners
• Working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure all pan-regional client publicity expectations are met and delivered. Support research and distribution departments through publicity avenues including but not limited to interviews, profiles and features
• Team liaison: Ensure strong partnerships run across joint projects across the international communications team and CNN Marketing, fostering a cohesive working environment across multiple time zones

Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's Degree level education, passion for international news and current affairs
• Minimum of seven years' Public Relations experience
• Experience in the TV or media industry, journalism or newsgathering a significant plus
• Exceptional presentation skills, with excellent command of verbal and written English, with ability to speak Asian languages a plus
• Flexible, with an affinity for supporting client relationships and willingness to respond to their needs 24/7
• Relationship management and influencing skills
• Commercial - curious about the business and actively influences and contributes to discussions
• Willing to challenge and debate issues that matter
• Clear thinking - willing to make sound and prompt decisions
• Credible and Results Driven - able to lead major projects and change programmes.
